Automatic bank feeds sound like the obvious end point for a finance app. Transactions arrive, categories appear and the dashboard fills itself.
Exorda uses entries added by the user and has no continuous bank connection.

Imported transactions can produce a very polished account of what has already happened. It may still feel like a report generated somewhere else.
For the person Exorda was built for, that distance was a problem. Seeing a chart was not the same as knowing what was in it.
Many people prefer automatic feeds, and there are more elaborate tools for that. Exorda was built from a different experience.
What happens when you add an entry
Adding income, a bill or a loan is a small act of checking. What is this? Which month does it belong to? Has it already been dealt with?
Exorda takes a little work. That work is also what brings the situation to your attention.
Manual entry keeps the person doing the tracking involved in how the numbers were formed.
A finished month
Finishing a month can feel good even when the result is negative. The figures have been checked and the situation is known.
Exorda’s periods support that routine. They are simply the months being tracked.
Checking with bank data
Bank rows exported or pasted by the user can be compared with entries already in Exorda through Reconciliation.
Suggested matches, duplicates and earlier imports help with the check. You choose what is imported, skipped or corrected. The bank data is supporting material, not a feed that silently becomes your dashboard.
Privacy and bank access
No continuous bank connection also means Exorda does not need ongoing access to a bank account for this feature. That fits a product that tries to keep data collection narrow.
Privacy is one part of the choice. Exorda is an independent place for the financial situation, regardless of bank, maintained by the people whose situation it is.
